The essentials
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How long? | usually 1 to 3 minutes |
| How often? | a new puzzle every day, at midnight German time |
| Board | 5 x 5 on weekdays, 6 x 6 at weekends |
| Difficulty | gentle on Monday, trickier towards Sunday |
| Solution | exactly one, always reachable without guessing |
| Cost | none, hints never cost money either |
How the puzzle works
The rules fit into two sentences. In the bean bed, each kind of bean appears exactly once in every row and every column. And where a green vine links two cells, the two beans are friends: they sit right next to each other in the bean circle.
Spark, Sun, Sprout, Drop and Shade form that circle, and Shade and Spark are friends too. At weekends Frost joins in and the bed grows to 6 x 6. Every bean also carries its own symbol, so you can tell the kinds apart without relying on colour.
You play with one finger: tap a cell, then pick the right bean. Undo takes back any step, and anything that does not fit is marked red right away.
Hints, score and streak
When you get stuck, the hint button places a correct bean for you. It never costs money, only 30 seconds on your score. The daily leaderboard ranks by that score and only shows your name if you want it to.
With a free account every day counts: your streak grows with each solved daily puzzle, and solved puzzles earn sparks for your card collection. Missed a day? The archive lets you replay the last seven puzzles at your own pace.

Tips for getting started
- Start with the vines: two linked cells often allow only two kinds of bean.
- Look at rows and columns that already hold four beans. The last one follows by itself.
- Guessing is never needed. If you are torn between two kinds, look for a vine or a full column nearby.
