Spotting foils and variants

Besides its rarity every card can have a variant and a foil. Both are rolled independently per card. Here is how to tell what you are holding.

Updated

The four variants

VariantChance per cardFeature
Glowform1 %Different colours with glitter and a foil frame.
Special Art0.5 %The motif in front of a scene, across the whole card.
Misprint0.05 %A shifted colour plate, clearly stamped.
Erstausgabefirst 100The first 100 copies pulled of each motif.

Variants can combine: an Erstausgabe in Glowform is possible. In your album the badge shows small marks: G for Glowform, S for Special Art, F for Misprint, 1 for Erstausgabe and V for a full-art scene. Glowform cards also sit on their own shelf.

The six foils

At most one foil per card, combinable with every variant.

FoilChance per cardWhat it looks like
Reverse Foil4 %Everything but the artwork shines: frame and panel.
Art Foil3 %Only the artwork shines.
Textured Foil1 %Embossed lines in the frame, the light travels across them.
Star Foil1 %Fine stars that flash when you tilt the card.
Prism Foil0.5 %Rainbow refraction across the whole card.
Gold Foil0.5 % (Epic and up)Warm golden sheen, Epic and above only.

In the large view the light follows your finger or mouse. On a phone tap "Move the foil" and tilt the device. The "Foil" filter in your album shows only foil cards.

What do foils and variants do?

Nothing in play: they don't change stats. They are purely for collecting. Foils add a small bonus to collector points on the collector leaderboard, once per motif and kind of foil. Cards with a variant give double sparks when broken down, and they are never converted automatically.

Rarity effects from Epic

Regardless of foil, cards from Epic upward always carry the effect of their tier, from the violet shimmer of Epic to rays of light for Divine and One of a kind. Special cards tilt in 3D when you touch them or tilt your phone. If you don't like that, switch on "Reduce motion" in the settings.

Full-art scenes

Twelve motifs always come as a full-art scene from Legendary upward: Penguin, Cat, Otter, Llama, Fire Beanling, Plant Beanling, Yeti, Shroomling, Shaggle, Nixie, Dragon and Phoenix. A large picture across the whole card with a slim name band. Purely visual, same stats.
